Generali Berlin Marathon 2027 Ballot Opens with New Sponsor

The general registration lottery for the 2027 Generali Berlin Marathon is officially open as of October 1, 2026, and will close on November 12, 2026. Alongside the registration opening, organizer SCC Events announced that Italian insurance giant Generali has taken over as the title sponsor, ending BMW's 16-year tenure.

The 53rd edition of the historic race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 26, 2027. If you are hoping to secure a spot on the starting line, you must submit your application through the new official event website before the November deadline.

When does the 2027 Berlin Marathon ballot run?

The application window for the 2027 drawing runs for exactly six weeks:

* Lottery Opens: October 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon) Central European Time. * Lottery Closes: November 12, 2026. * Draw Results Announced: December 3, 2026.

There is no fee to enter the drawing, but successful applicants will have their payment details charged immediately when results are released.

How much does entry cost for the 2027 race?

The participation fee for the 2027 Generali Berlin Marathon is €215. This represents an increase of +4.8% over the previous cycle's fee of €205.

Additionally, runners must now pay a €5 fee if they wish to drop off a bag on race morning. This fee does not apply if you choose the standard finisher poncho option instead. The €215 base fee includes pacemakers, on-course medical services, a finisher medal, and a four-day public transit ticket for Berlin zones A, B, and C.

Where do I apply for the 2027 lottery?

To register, you must create a personal user account on the newly launched official domain at generali-berlin-marathon.com.

You can apply either as an individual or as a team of two to three people. If you apply as a team, every member of your group will either be accepted or rejected together. Applying as both an individual and as part of a team is strictly prohibited and will disqualify your entry.

What are the ballot odds for the Berlin Marathon?

While Berlin is famously fast and popular, it historically offers some of the most favorable drawing odds among the Abbott World Marathon Majors. Recent editions have seen an acceptance rate of roughly 20%, which is second only to Chicago's estimated 25% draw rate. You can use the Marathon Ballot Simulator to see how those odds play out over multiple years of entry.

To avoid the lottery altogether, fast runners can submit a qualifying time. The fast-track standards require a certified finish time under 2:45:00 for men or 3:10:00 for women for those aged 18 to 44. You can check your eligibility and full details on the Berlin Marathon page.
