Sanlam Cape Town Marathon charity places: 23 partners, minimums from $2,000
23 independently verified 2027 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon charity partners, the international guaranteed-entry route into Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Major.
How charity places work
The 2027 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is Africa's first Abbott World Marathon Major, and a charity place is the guaranteed way in for international runners who miss the ballot. The race runs its international charity programme through Destination Sport Charity, and entries opened on 26 June 2026 on a first-come, first-served basis. Each partner below was checked against its own 2027 Cape Town fundraising page, and carries the minimum that charity publishes, from £1,000 up to $5,000. Several more partners are confirmed but have not yet posted a minimum, and a separate local route for South African residents was still listed as coming soon at the time of writing.

Questions about charity places
How do I get a 2027 Cape Town Marathon charity place?
Pick a partner, commit to its published fundraising minimum, and apply through the official Destination Sport Charity platform, where international charity entries opened on 26 June 2026 on a first-come, first-served basis. You receive a guaranteed bib outside the public ballot.
How much do I have to fundraise?
It varies by partner, roughly from £1,000 up to $5,000. United Kingdom charities set their minimums in pounds, and some partners add a small registration fee on top. The figures here come from each charity's own 2027 Cape Town page.
Is this the complete list of Cape Town charity partners?
No. These are the partners we could each confirm against the charity's own 2027 page. The official programme is larger, the inaugural 2026 year had more than 65 charities, but not every 2027 partner has published its details yet, and some had not posted a fundraising minimum at the time of writing.
Is there a charity entry for South African residents?
A separate local programme is planned, but at the time of writing the official Run for Charity page listed the local charity details as coming soon, with no named charities or minimums yet published. The international platform is for overseas runners.
