The Tokyo Marathon 2027 General Entry lottery opens at 11:00 a.m. JST on Friday, August 14, 2026 and closes at 5:00 p.m. JST on Friday, August 28, 2026. Results are notified on September 18, 2026. The race itself is Sunday, March 7, 2027, the 20th anniversary edition, with a record field of 40,000 runners.

When exactly does the Tokyo Marathon lottery open and close?

The window is two weeks, not a month. It opens 11:00 a.m. JST on August 14 and shuts at 5:00 p.m. JST on August 28, 2026. Applying on day one and applying on day fourteen carry the same odds, because General Entry is a random draw and not first come, first served. The only thing early application buys is insurance against forgetting.

When do Tokyo Marathon 2027 lottery results come out?

September 18, 2026. Selected runners then have a payment window that runs from 11:00 a.m. JST on September 18 to 5:00 p.m. JST on September 30, 2026. Miss that deadline and the place goes away, which is the single most avoidable way to lose a Tokyo bib.

Who is eligible to enter?

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older on race day and able to complete the marathon within 6 hours 30 minutes. The wheelchair marathon carries a 2 hour 30 minute standard. Entry costs JPY 19,800 for runners based in Japan and USD 230 for overseas runners, charged only after selection.

What are the other routes into Tokyo 2027?

Three other doors are already open or already shut. The Semi-Elite RUN as ONE route and the ONE TOKYO GLOBAL member route both run July 31 to August 13, 2026, ahead of the general lottery, with results on September 1.
