What made 1992 notable

The 1992 ADT London Marathon launched Antonio Pinto's London story. The Portuguese runner, in only his second marathon, won the first of three London titles in 2:10:02, the closest of margins. Jan Huruk of Poland finished second in 2:10:07 and Thomas Naali of Tanzania third in 2:10:08, leaving the entire podium inside six seconds, one of the tightest finishes the race has seen. Katrin Dorre-Heinig of Germany opened her own run of three consecutive London victories, taking the women's race in 2:29:39 ahead of Renata Kokowska in 2:29:59. Daniel Wesley set a wheelchair course record of 1:51:42 and Tanni Grey won the women's wheelchair race. A total of 23,833 runners finished the 12th running.
