The 2025 TCS London Marathon ballot smashed the previous year's record with 840,318 applications, the second consecutive world record and the first time a marathon had cleared 800,000 entries. The ballot ran from Saturday 20 April to Friday 26 April 2024, with results landing in inboxes on Wednesday 26 June 2024. On race day, Sunday 27 April 2025, conditions were mild and dry: a low of around 11 degrees Celsius at the start climbing into the low twenties by the afternoon waves. Sebastian Sawe took the men's title in 2:02:25 on his London debut, with Jacob Kiplimo second on a marathon debut of his own. Tigst Assefa won the women's race in 2:15:50, a new women-only world record. 56,640 runners crossed The Mall, the largest mass-participation marathon finish in history.
