The 2024 TCS London Marathon ballot set a then world record at 578,374 applications, the first time any marathon had crossed half a million entries. UK runners drove most of the volume at 457,105, with another 121,269 international hopefuls competing for the same pool of ballot bibs. Ballot emails dropped at the end of June 2023, ten months before race day. On the course itself, Sunday 21 April 2024 delivered classic London conditions: 7 degrees Celsius at the start, partly cloudy, a chilly north-easterly breeze, and no rain. Alexander Mutiso won the men's title in 2:04:01. Peres Jepchirchir set a women-only world record at 2:16:16. Kelvin Kiptum, the course-record holder, was honoured posthumously four months after his death.
