The 2025 Tokyo Marathon ran warmer than 2024, 14 degrees at the start climbing past 20 by mid-race in full sun, a setup that troubled several elite men but didn't keep Tadese Takele from 2:03:23 or Sutume Asefa Kebede from defending her title in 2:16:31. Both times were world-leading at that point of 2025. Outside the elite race, 37,480 entrants and 36,204 finishers extended Tokyo's 96 percent completion streak. Race-week chatter still leaned hard on Japanese organisation and the vibrant city atmosphere. The ten percent acceptance rate held, and applications keep arriving from Six Star chasers. Apply early, apply more than once, budget for the heat to be back.
