Berlin Marathon 2027 Lottery: Apply by Nov 12, Results Dec 3

Race entries for the 2027 GENERALI BERLIN-MARATHON are allocated by lottery, and the organizer says this "ensures that everyone has an equal chance of securing a starting spot." What SCC Events does not publish is the number of applicants or the number of lottery places, so there is no official acceptance rate to quote for 2027.

How does the Berlin Marathon 2027 lottery work?

Registration for the lottery runs from October 1, 2026 to November 12, 2026, for the race on September 26, 2027. All applicants receive their result by email on December 3, 2026. The participation fee is €215, charged after the drawing and only if you are assigned a race entry, with payment processing starting December 4, 2026. Why can't anyone give exact Berlin odds?

Because the inputs are not public. Without an applicant count or a lottery place count from SCC Events, any precise percentage is an estimate rather than an official figure. Runners comparing Majors by raw demand have no Berlin application number to put alongside the counts other organizers publish.

Is there a way into Berlin besides the general lottery?

Yes. You can register as a fast runner by uploading proof of a qualifying marathon time and your age during registration. The 2027 standards are 2:45 for men and 3:10 for women born between 1983 and 2009 (ages 18 to 44), 2:55 and 3:30 for those born between 1968 and 1982, and 3:25 and 4:20 for those born in 1967 or earlier. Proof must be an official certificate or results link from 2025 or 2026, from a race in the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings, certified by AIMS, or listed by USATF.

Meeting the standard is not a guarantee. The organizer states that registering as a fast runner "does not guarantee a spot in the race," and that acceptance or rejection is sent once lottery results are announced. If your proof is invalid, your registration goes into the general lottery.

What if the lottery says no?
