Sydney Marathon 2027 Ballot Results: Date, Charges, Next Steps

The 2027 TCS Sydney Marathon ballot results go out by email on 3 November 2026. Successful applicants are notified and charged the same day, and unsuccessful applicants are contacted on the same date with other ways in. The race itself runs on Sunday 29 August 2027.

When are the Sydney Marathon 2027 ballot results?

3 November 2026. The organiser emails successful and unsuccessful applicants on that day. It does not give a delivery time, so results may not reach every inbox at the same moment.

If nothing has arrived, check your junk or spam folder first. The organiser asks applicants to get in touch only if they have heard nothing after 6 November 2026.

The ballot itself closed on 19 October 2026 at 10:00 AEDT, so no new applications are possible. The results date announcement has the full 2027 timeline.

Will my card be charged if I get in?

Yes. If you are drawn, your bank card is charged the registration fee on 3 November 2026, with a confirmation email to follow. Per the official FAQ, the fee is:

  • Australian and New Zealand residents: AUD 285
  • International participants: AUD 340
  • Plus: a mandatory carbon levy and any optional donations. The levy amount is not stated.

The sign-up page still lists AUD 280 and AUD 330, so check the amount on your confirmation email. Entering the ballot was free, and unsuccessful applicants are not charged.

What are the odds of getting into Sydney 2027?

Unknown. The organiser has not published a 2027 acceptance rate or the number of ballot places. The total field includes charity, travel, High Performance Program and other entries, so dividing it by applications would overstate the odds. What is known from past cycles is in the Sydney ballot odds breakdown and the 2026 ballot results page.

What if I applied to the High Performance Program?

Unsuccessful HPP applicants were carried into the ballot automatically. The organiser says all unsuccessful HPP applications move over to the ballot, and those applicants get an email with their ballot outcome on 3 November 2026. HPP results are announced alongside the ballot results.

What if I have a deferral?

Runners with a deferral to 2027 should not have entered the ballot. The FAQ warns that a deferred runner who is drawn and charged will not be refunded and forfeits the deferral. Deferrals who nominated 2027 are contacted after the ballot is drawn in November 2026.

What can I do if I didn't get a place?

The organiser points unsuccessful applicants to two routes, and the 3 November email includes advice on both:

  • Charity Program: apply directly to one of 50+ official charity partners on the charity page. Each charity selects its own runners, places depend on an application and a fundraising commitment, and applying does not guarantee acceptance. Our Sydney charity directory lists partners and their published minimums.
  • Travel Program: the organiser works with 100+ Official Travel Partners across 65+ countries, led by Marathon Tours & Travel. Selected packages include guaranteed race entry. Partners are listed by country on the Travel Program page.
